What should drilling fluids satisfy in horizontal directional crossing?

Horizontal directional crossing are still very young at home and even abroad. However, in recent years, thanks to the substantial development of pipeline directional crossing and large-scale construction of domestic oil & gas pipelines, crossing length and diameter have kept updating the records. Drilling fluids plays an important role in directional crossing projects for its decisive impact on the projects’ effects.
Directional crossing projects demand strong drilling fluids performance:
Drilling fluids, fairly important for directional crossing projects, is a mixture of water, bentonite, additives, etc. with its composition adjustable on actual requirements in the projects. Complex geology and large crossing diameter & length demand strong drilling fluids performance, and, correspondingly, different concoction measures to ensure successful crossing.
1. Drilling fluids should have appropriate viscosity and liquidity and good ability to carry drill cuttings. In this way, it can stay suspended at the bottom of borehole and its liquidity can easily carry cuttings back to the ground.
2. Drilling fluids should be able to well protect the inner walls and better stabilize the drill hole wall, especially so for those formations of large-hole-diameter and easy-to-collapse.
3. Drilling fluids should be highly lubricative so as to well smooth drag of pipelines. It is especially effective in longer crossing projects that lubrication grease can reduce friction coefficient and back dragging force of pipelines.
4. In order to satisfy the requirements in crossing projects, the fluids pressure and flow should be adjusted from formation to formation and from phase to phase.

Desilter according to the principle of particle sedimentation

Desilter is designed according to the principle of particle sedimentation. The separation medium drilling fluid passes through sand pump and gets certain pressure and velocity, flows into spirally along the cyclone inner wall.

Maintenance & repair methods of desilter:
1. The shaker screen box must be removed and the bolt must be locked after the first time use of new desilter or before the first use after moving.
2. When stopped using for a long time, please clean cyclone with clear water circularly, preventing dry sand piling up inside the cyclone.
3. Vibration motor note a grease each 1500 ~ 2500 hours, and oil quantity is 5 ~ 10 ml for each bearing.

4. Shaker screens should be cleaned after downtime, lest sediment dry solid, and desilter cannot be used next time. Mud agitator throughout the solids control system

Mud agitator combines compact design with high torque performance levels necessary for a uniformly suspended flow of drilled solids throughout the solids control system.

Mud agitator requirements as follows:

1.low profile design to allow for positioning mud conditioning equipment over mud tank.
2.Maximum height above tank is 16 inch.
3.Light weighted , but sturdy construction with the highest torque rating in the industry. Example 15 hp PIT VIPER weighs 542 lbs (246.4 kg ) compared to industry average of 1830 lbs (831.8 kg ) for competitive units.
4.Available in 3,5,7 1/2 , 10 , 15 , 20, 25 and 30 hp models.
5.Oversized shaft bearings are used for longer gearbox life and lower maintenance requirements .
6.Cast iron housings are one-piece , reinforced and ribbed for exra strengh.
7.Detachable impeller shaft for ease of servicing without disassembling unit.
8.Simple mounting .Agitator base rests on tanks structural cross beams held by six bolts.
9.Electric motors : Class 1 ,Group D .Class 11 , Groups F&Gexplosion-proof electric motors are available in 50 or 60 Hz .
10.All internal shafts are heated treated and ground for high loading capacity.No grease fittings.

11.All internal TMLL bearing run in oil.
