1. General requirements mixing hopper capacity shall not be less than 150m3/h. For the larger tank and great pump motor power, we can also use the mixing hopper with 300m3/h capacity.
In order to ensure the required well pressure, suggest that each drilling crew should equipped with a spare set of mixing hoppers, in most cases spare hoppers used overlap mode.
2. The return pressure of outlet pipe needed moderate, overlarge return pressure will reduce the treating capacity of mixed hopper.
3. The gap between nozzle and venturi tube must be suitable, when reach optimum efficiency, the gap is 32~90mm, usually don’t more than 90 mm, otherwise the feed speed of barite will be significantly reduced.
4. Another important consideration of install equipment is the drilling fluid required lifted height. If discharge needed to enter into different deck tank or a taunt tank and hopper, mix rate will be decreased. When the height from 1.83m to 3.66m, barite adding rate will be reduced to 17%. If the increased demand is very high, the pump capacity is insufficient, mixed ability will be greatly reduced.

After the centrifugal pump started, the pump shaft drive impeller together to do high speed rotation, forced beforehand filling between the blades liquid rotation, under the function of inertia centrifugal, liquid does a radial motion from the impeller center to peripheral. To work effectively, drilling fluids centrifugal pump should meet the following performance test requirements:
1) While doing performance test, the tested centrifugal pump should mount bearing and sealing as specified in the order.
2) If approved by the buyer, in order to not damage the sealing appointed on the order, or the test fluids is incompatible with original sealing, the pump can be test with replacement sealing
3) In any stage of the centrifugal pump performance test, it is not allowed any leakage over the rate of Standard ISO21049, or over the rate appointed between vendor and buyer.
If there is any leakage over the appointed rate during performance test, the centrifugal pump manufacturer should disassembly the sealing for maintenance. While open or disassembly the pump sealing, the operator should again do air test to the sealing.
While the centrifugal pump use water as performance test fluids, the fluids sealing suitable for water have no sign for leakage. It should double check the sealing performance per standard ISO21049:2004, and insure it is accordance with the zero visibility leakage standard.
4) If there was leakage, it should be test again after repairing the centrifugal pump sealing. And to insure the centrifugal pump have a good performance for sealing.
5) The lubrication oil pressure, temperature, and viscosity should be under the scope of the user manual offered to the buyer.
6) Regarding bearing request for pure oil mist lubrication system, it should be lubricated with suitable oil type.
7) All sealing parts and connection parts of the centrifuge pump should be checked careful to avoid leakage.
8) All alarming system, protection system and control system regarding centrifugal pump performance test should be checked, and adjust per test requirement.
