Mud Cleaner is a key member of solid control equipments of drilling fluid that efficiently removes silt sized particles between 20~74 micron cut.It is comprised of one shale shaker,one desander and on desilter. It can efficiently handle the shale shake underflow, which can lead to high drilling speed with low cost.

In whole mud solids control system, drilling fluids enters from the mud compartment under vacuum degasser into desander via the force of its pump, flows into the compartment under desander after treatment, accesses desilter by mud pump and then goes for further treatment in decanter centrifuge through spillway trough afterwards.

Mud cleaner is the second class and the third class solids control equipment. It occupies small space and the function is powerful, mud cleaner is the ideal device of the 2nd and 3rd class solids control to treat the drilling fluids. It is also called three-in-one mud cleaner and oilfield drilling mud conditioner.

Normally mud cleaner is a combinition of desander and desilter. Desander is mounted on the top of the first mud tank together with shale shaker and vacuum degasser, while desilter is mounted together with decanter centrifuge. Sometimes to save the top area of the mud tank, desander and desilter are combined together to work as high efficient mud cleaner.

Desander and desilter consist of hydrocyclones, high pressure flow pipes and a small shale shaer at the bottom. For desanders and desilters, only one vibration motor is used to drive the screen basket. while for high efficient it would need two motors.
There would be equipped with two 10″ or 12″ iron hydrocyclones for desander just as the solids need to be separated is relatively big, and include some sands in the mud. While for desilter, it would be equiped 6 to 12 pcs 4″ hydrocyclones. which are made of wear-resisting plastic.

Drilling fluid circulating tank is used to store, allocate, circulate and dispose drilling fluid in mud system. The content should be the maximum volume in drilling fluid process and it has enough storing capacity. Usually we should manufacture several single tanks.

The foreign tank has many lobes, but domestic circulating tank have no lobes. Among the tank have balance tube to link up each tank’s fluid make the liquid in one horizontal level in rest condition. Most of the binds between balance tube use hose soft connection but also have hard connection with ball joints.

Drilling mud agitator, as a tank equipment in drilling solids control system consists of reducer and explosion-proof electric motor, has got dominant application in mud mixing and concoction. It is easy to keep up, and suitable to operate in terrible outdoor working conditions. Its large agitating strength can extend to a large scale of drilling fluids and greatly reduce resisting moments when it starts. The plate surrounded by blades prevent solids from gathering together around lower blades, reduce resisting moments against blades and avoid burning the electric motor during overload start up process.

Attention to handling oilfield mud agitator:
1. mud agitator installation should be level and smooth lifting agitator placed in the position I want to install, adjust concentricity <0.39mm after four M16 socket welded to the tank and tighten the base bolt .
2. mud agitator rigid coupling spring washer must be installed and should be solid and reliable, otherwise it will cause waves axle deflection, exacerbated reducer wear.
3. mud mixer blender running should be no abnormal sound, cassette, high temperature and other abnormal situations. Otherwise, should stop to check, troubleshooting.
4. mud agitator gearbox oil level should be maintained, as the oil window in the middle position, the work often make up the oil. Recommended to use 120 # industrial gear oil. When the field is not satisfied, also use other suitable lubricant particle.

Requests of operating oilfield shale shaker

In many different industries, shale shaker is utilized widely, such as coal cleaning plant, mining, petroleum drilling, and natural gas exploitation, etc. And the shakers that are currently used in petroleum drilling were initially introduced from the coal cleaning industry. It can remove the solids that is over 75μm diameter.

As solids over this diameter is much harmful on the drilling fluids property. They must be removed from the drilling mud at the first stage of solids control system. And shale shaker with API 200 mesh (75μm) is designed and manufactured basing on this principle.

Shale shakers can be divided into linear motion shale shaker and ellipse & round motion shaker, basing on the difference of their screen basket moving tracks. As the most important equipment in solids control system, shale shakers are widely used in almost all kinds of drilling rig, and they take an important part in drilling fluids cost as well as total drilling drilling cost. So it is necessary to choose right type of linear motion shale shaker according to the viscosity of drilling fluids & solids density.

The requests of operating oilfield shale shaker:

1.Adjust the specification of screens with the variation of the lithology, drilling rate, well depth and the type of drilling fluid. Choosing the effective screens with fine mesh as far as possible.
2.The flow area should cover from 75 to 80 percent of the total screen area at the normal drilling rate.
3.The drilling fluids pumped out of wellbore should be treated by drilling fluids shale shaker as the primary purification process, and keep 100 percent utilization of shale shaker.

Shale shakers are the most important and easiest solids removal equipment, which is characteristic by highly cost-effective. However, the next stage solids removal equipment will not perform effectively, if shale shakers are used incorrectly.
